R.A.F.T

Recently we’ve has some problems with our new drummer Zakk. This is why I’m writing to you all; because it had led to our breakup. Yes For Crying Out Loud is done. Hopefully we can eventually find a new drummer and lead singer. Through for now we are taking a break and going our separate ways. We have written a good bye song, you were great fans.
For Crying Out Loud have had some problems with our lead singer Seth S for years. He’s cocky and has no concern for others. When we lost our drummer we searched for a new one for months. Eventually we found one, Zakk from Norton. He was really good and had the same style as us, perfectly fitting in.
Soon after Seth S and Zakk became close friends because what we didn’t realize was that they have the same personality. They started playing by themselves on their own time and would hardly show up for practice. One day when we were putting the final touches on some tracks Zakk took the music to tweak it and never brought it back. Essentially stealing it all. Seth S and Zakk would gang up on the rest of the band members, and quit soon after. They have started their own band and have left our damaged. Overall we now only have two guitarists, Noah and Zach L and one bassist, myself, Seth R. our last show as a whole was March 5th 2010 at Buzzards Bay Knights of Columbus. We’re hoping to find a new lead singer and drummer eventually. In the mean time we’ll be attending college and practicing with our new bands.
Thank You,
Seth R, of For Crying Out Loud.

HIM – wings of a butterflyHeaven ablaze in our eyes We're standing still in time The blood on our hands is the wineWe offer as sacrifice Come on, and show them your love Rip out the wings of a butterflyFor your soul, my loveRip out the wings of a butterflyFor your soulThis endless mercy mile We're crawling side by side With hell freezing over in our eyes Gods kneel before our crimeCome on lets show, them your loveRip out the wings of a butterflyFor your soul, my loveRip out the wings of a butterflyFor your soulDon't let go, For your soulCome on, and show them your love Rip out the wings of a butterflyFor your soul, my loveRip out the wings of a butterflyFor your soul Don't let goFor your soul
This picture of a dragon fly trying to clean itself of oil reminded me of HIM’s song “Wings of a Butterfly.” This is because they both first involve wings. The sacrifice in the song could be seen as the oil company’s willingness to sacrifice any innocent animals such as the dragonfly. The crime of this oil spill should have a high punishment, but the oil company will probably get off with a large fine because they’re so rich. The connection in the line “we’re standing still in time” directs towards the picture that even though history repeats itself we still aren’t learning from our mistakes. The line “the blood on our hands is the wine we offer as sacrifice” means that we have no regard for any life but our own as we give the environment for our sacrifice, which is directly related to the picture of the oil covered dragonfly. When HIM says “rip out the wings of a butterfly” they mean it symbolically not directly. They want people to pull something beautiful and natural out instead of the lies and deception that we normally encounter.
Sugar Ray – FlyAll around the world statues crumble for mewho knows how long I've loved youeverywhere I go people stop and they seetwenty-five years old my mother God rest her soulI just wanna flyput your arms around me, babyI just wanna flyput your arms around me, babydance a little stranger, show me where you've beenlove can make you hostage wanna do it againthere's no time to think about the starting or the endwe'll find out I'm told, my mother she told me soI just wanna flyput your arms around me, babyI just wanna flyput your arms around me, babyI just want to flyall around the world, statues crumble for mewho knows how long I've loved youeveryone I know has been so good to metwenty-five years old, my mother God rest her soulI just wanna flyPut your arms around me, babyI just wanna flyPut your arms around me, babyI just want to fly
This picture reminded me of sugar rays song because the first line is “everywhere they go people stop and they see” which could relate to everyone seeing the oil spill on their TV and they stop to check for any updates. One line, “put your arms around me baby” can be seen through the bird wanting the water cleaned and itself clean because he just wants to fly. In the picture the bird is perfectly white all the way across its body until your eyes reach the tip of its tail and a clump of oil sits on the end. Especially when animals die due to our own faults the lyric “all around the world statues crumble for me” makes sense, this is because the people that aren’t affected by these disasters are at least touched by the innocent deaths.
Hum – StarsShe thinks she missed the train to Mars, she's out back counting stars. She thinks she missed the train to Mars, she's out back counting stars. She's not at work, she's not at school, she's not in bed, I think I finally broke her.I bring her home everything I want, and nothing that she needs.I thought she'd be there holding daisies, she always waits for me.She thinks she missed the train to Mars, she's out back counting stars.I found her out back sitting naked looking up and looking dead.A crumpled yellow piece of paper, with seven nines and tens.I thought she'd be there holding daisies, she always waits for me.She thinks she missed the train to Mars, she's out back counting stars.I thought you'd be there holding daisies, you always wait for me.She thinks she missed the train to Mars, she's out back counting stars.
This picture reminded me of the song stars by hum because of the sky and the song starts off really slow and soft like a peaceful sunset. The lyrics connect with the assumptions of the picture “everything I want and nothing that she needs” like saying that we do whatever we want even if it hurts the envirnment, which is nothing that it needs. The small piece “I finally broke her” can be seen as society finally destorying nature. Some people don’t care abou ther consiquences because they believe nature will always be around and theres not threat like in the line “I thought she bed there holding daisies she always waits for me”.

Legand and Myth and Music

Robert Johnson was a black man that had moved to a Native American reservation in Washington State. He moved to the reservation because he had some trouble in his life and had to get away. One day when he was driving around he stopped at a crossroads and stood in the center. Everyone in the reservation knows that the devil hangs out at crossroads and that it is possibly a gate to hell. Well, that is where Robert Johnson met the devil and made a deal with him. He wanted to be able to play guitar better than anyone else, so he made a deal with the devil; he sold his soul and in return he would receive the skills to be the best guitarist. The curse that he accepted eventually drove him to kill himself, he played the guitar until his hands bled and could not stop. By killing himself the guitar was left behind and Victor found it and sold his best friends soul for the talent.
At a meeting with a record company, after signing to begin his solo career, Ozzy bit off the head of a dove. The point of the dove was to show peace as they flew away, but Osbourne was so trashed that he bit the head off instead. Another occurrence was the night at one of his own concerts; when Ozzy Osbourne bit off the head of a live bat. Throughout his tour he was biting off the heads of rubber bats because that is what he was known for. Though at this one particular show, a woman threw a real bat right in front of Ozzy on stage. Being stunned by all the flashing lights of the show the bat was stunned. So of course thinking it was fake, Ozzy picked up the bat and bit off its head. Realizing that he was real he was rushed to the nearest hospital and received rabies shots.

The Abbey Road cover had many conspiracies’s surrounding it. Many die hard fans believed that Paul McCartney died and that there were several subliminal messages hidden within the albums graphics pointing it out. Some said that the way each beetle was dressed was carefully planned out symbolizing a gravedigger, a mourner, and a priest for Paul’s funeral. A second piece that fans assumed was that in the picture McCartney was not wearing shoes, also symbolizing his death. A third piece was that in the background a police car is parked, because it was thought that the police had helped cover up the death of McCartney. Finally the most disturbing was the theory that is you slightly turn the back cover a person can clearly see the grim reaper. Through all conspiracies this story turned out to be not true, simply because Paul McCartney is not dead.

When Bob Dylan went to the Newport folk festival in 1965, he decided to change up his sound. He plugged in his guitar to an amplifier. Now Bob Dylan was an acoustic folk player so the fans began to boo because they wanted to hear the original Bob Dylan and not “Electric Dylan”. Simply because of they type of music they preferred. Though after interviews with fans that were in the audience these statements were not true. The fans said that they didn’t hear any booing from the crowed. Another set said they looked around and they saw performers and press booing but not the audience. After everything it turns out that some of the fans were upset because they felt that Bob had turned his back on true folk music to go to electric.

Come Original - 311

311 is a very unique band with a very unique sound. Their song “Come Original” criticizes other entertainers because 311 feel’s that the newer generation steals the style of older generations.
They give examples of real unique entertainers such as “the Black Eyed Peas they comin’ full range and NOFX is comin’ full range.” To “come original” means to go “full range of emotion full range of styles” so “when you come to town you'll have them comin' for miles.”
This means that when an entertainer reaches that level their sound will be so unique that fans will come from miles away just to see them. Otherwise the newer generations will get shot down by their fans who are neglecting their art; eventually getting so bad their music will put fans to sleep.

Face To Face - A Loss for Words

In this song, it's described that society has become a dream. they're not talking about it being a good dream either, almost like a nightmare. They want someone to simply pinch their cheeks to wake them up from this whole bad dream.
A new place is described where everyone is wearing a mask. It's not known who it true, or who is just pretending to be someone they're not. The insincerity it making him sick and it's become very rare to find someone who is sincere. With every person he sees, you can tell they're hiding something through their intentions.
All the people he once knew, friends, family and acquaintances are now strangers. They're called strangers with familiar faces because all the dishonesty has changed them. Now its normal for him to see these people on a daily basis. They all don't know his name anymore, though he says it's fine, because he would prefer it that way. Why would he want dishonest people to know his name anyway.

Declairation

There are many reasons why I'v chose insincerity in rock. One because rock is my favorite genre of music and there are many different styles to choose from. A few examples of this is hardcore, acoustic, sceamo, soft, and punk. Second because lately in society there seems to be more insincerity. Kids believe that they are all grown up at younger ages and ignorant. Artists are stealing other entertainers ideas, when they should be comming up with their own style. On a personal level, in my life many people have no problem lying anymore, when there is no point to it. So iv'e chose it because it makes me feel better when i hear about musical people who have been in the same situations.
